CHARLOTTE SCHWALBE DEAD
The Close of a Most Eventful Career

The death of Mrs. Charlotte Schwalbe will create genuine and profound sorrow in the community.
After a long period of suffering, death, which came Friday night, was a blessed relief.
The deceased was born in Remiremont, France.  At the time of death she was 51 years of age.  There is a beautiful romance associated with the life of the dead lady.
During the Franco-German war Mr. Schwalbe followed the victorious eagles of the fatherland to France.  While serving as a soldier he met his wife, and at the conclusion of the war, they came to America and were married in Chicago.
Mr. and Mrs. Schwalbe arrived in Denison in 1877 and have resided here ever since, at their beautiful home on the hillside that overlooks the Pawpaw valley, east Denison.
Mrs. Schwalbe was a typical daughter of sunny France.  Even in the most distressing hours of sickness, she was cheerful and uncomplaining.
There never was a more devoted wife or lovable woman to friends.  Always guided by the most noble and generous impulses, she attracted to her a large circle of friends, who will be inconsolable at her death.
While going and coming from our home east for a number of years, it was our custom to meet Mr. Schwalbe as he was proceeding on his way to work.  The faithful little wife was always at the gate to kiss and bid adieu to her husband.  This same affection was reciprocated when he returned at night.  Surely there never was a more beautiful home life.
Into her surroundings Mrs. Schwalbe carried the love of the beautiful.  Their little home nestled in fragrant flowers and vines.  She entered hand and soul into those little details of ornamentation about the premises that bespeak so much the spirit of culture.
In bidding farewell to Mrs. Charlotte Schwalbe we pay the last and loving tribute to one of the noblest women that  ever lived in Denison.
The funeral took place to-day (Sunday) from the family residence, No. 700 East Main street, at 10 o'clock a.m.
