Denison Section 1 Alvred Overturff 1916 - 1939 The Denison Press Saturday, October 30, 1934 pg.1 INFANT DIES AT HOME OF PARENTS FRIDAY Donald Wayne Overturf, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Overturf, died at the home of his parents, 309 W. Munson street, Friday at 8:10 p.m. Surviving are the parents; and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Overturf, Denison and Mr. and Mrs. Sam Dutton, Pottsboro. Funeral services were held Saturday at 2:30 with burial at Oakwood Cemetery. Rev. L.R. Lamb officiated. Short-Murray funeral directors were in charge. The Denison Press Wednesday, July 12, 193 pg.1 LOCAL YOUTH DIES TUESDAY Alfred J. "Fat" Overturf, 22, Denison reared Army artilleryman of Ft. Sill, Oklahoma died suddenly Tuesday of injuries sustained in an automobile accident near the Army headquarters, a message received here by his mother, Mrs. Georgia Whitney. The remains are to be shipped to Denison for burial by Short-Murray. Overturf was born in Denison October 17, 1916, son of Mr. and Mrs. Will Overturf and was reared and educated in Denison public schools. He was first connected with a taxi company here and later was a truck driver for a local firm. He enlisted in the Army February 28 of this year and was assigned to the 77th field artillery at Ft. Sill, March 1. He was a member of the Methodist church. Surviving are his mother; his father; grandparents, Charles Overturf and J.W. Noel, both of Denison; and an aunt, Mrs. Dara Champion of Denison. A military service was held today at Ft. Sill and a civilian service will be held here at Short-Murray chapel Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Short-Murray in charge. Rev. Paul O. Cardwell, pastor of the Trinity Methodist church, will officiate at services here. OAKWOOD CEMETERY
