The Sunday Gazetteer Sunday, July 6, 1902 pg. 4 RAILROAD RUMBLINGS Levi C. Phillips, one of the most highly esteemed and popular of the Katy engineers died a few days ago. The funeral took place last Sunday and was attended by a large concourse of people. The services at the house were conducted by Rev. T.H. Corkill, pastor of Grace M.E. Church. The contribution of floral emblems was very large. At the conclusion of the religious service, the Masons took charge of the remains. Lone Star Lodge No. 403, A.F. and A.M., were there sixty strong. The six pallbearers were chosen from the lodge. Forty Masons took up the line of march from the house to Oakwood Cemetery, and a large number rode in carriages. Denison Division No. 177, B. of L.E., attended in a body. Engineer Phillips died in the prime of life. He had been in the service of the Katy for a long period. OAKWOOD CEMETERY
