Denison Section 1 John E. Carter 22 August 1856 - 22 February 1894 The Sunday Gazetteer Sunday, February 25, 1894 pg. 4 VICTIM OF THE WRECK John Carter, baggagemen on the Missouri, Kansas & Texas between Denison and Houston, who was in the Whiteoak wreck, died Thursday at the Houston Infirmary. Mr. and Mrs. Carter resided on North Houston avenue, this city, and the evening after the wreck Mrs. Carter left for Houston. When she arrived in that city the wounds of her husband had been dressed and, apparently, he was getting along nicely as could be desired. She remained several days, and all the time Mr. Carter continued to improve. On Tuesday of this week Mrs. Carter returned home, thinking her husband out of danger. Wednesday, however, Mr. Carter did not do so well, and Wednesday night he sank rapidly, dying early Thursday morning. The remains were prepared for burial and shipped to Denison for interment, arriving here Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock. 1894 MKT Wreck outside of Houston OAKWOOD CEMETERY
