Tommie Lee Doughty was born July 1, 1924 to Samuel and Era (Dellinger) Conley in Holiday, Texas. She attended Southeastern Oklahoma State College and during World War II was asked to teach grammar school. After the war she moved to Oklahoma City where she met Clarence “Alvin” Doughty. The couple married on August 22, 1946. They established their home in Oklahoma City where they raised five children. While raising her family, Tommie had a career working for the FAA for 20 years. Every spring she delighted in planting flowers in her garden. She loved to sew and cook for her family and was famous for her pies. During her life, she traveled to many countries and enjoyed experiencing new places and cultures. Most of all, when the holidays or family gatherings brought everyone together, Tommie found happiness in making these occasions memorable and warm. She devoted herself to raising and nurturing her family and considered them to be her most important accomplishment. Throughout her life she had a strong faith in God and was heard to pray, “Thank you Lord for taking care of me even when I don’t have sense to take care of myself.” She is predeceased in death by her parents, Samuel and Era Conley; her husband, Alvin Doughty; and her brothers, Chuck Conley and Marcus Conley. She is survived by two brothers: Ben Conley and wife Eulene of Chandler, AZ and Sam Conley of Gordonville, TX; her children: David Doughty of Colorado Springs, CO; Roger Doughty and his wife Shirley of Stillwater, OK; Sheri Richey and her husband Mike of Lethbridge, Alberta; Deborah DeBerry of Blue Hill, ME; and Sharla Speakman and her husband Tom of Denison, TX; her grandchildren: Kyle Doughty and wife Rachael; Megan Doughty; Jennifer Aquila and husband Derek; Brandy Mauro and husband Billy; Bryan McQuade and wife Margaret; Amy McQuade; Tim McQuade; Summer Doughty; Sarah Markes and husband Jared; and 5 great grandchildren.
