DEATH ON THE RAIL
Monday evening, between 6 and 7 o'clock, an unknown man was knocked off the track and killed by a south-bound freight train on the Central near the southern limit of the city.  Train No. 6 left the yard at 6:30.  After turning the top of the hill beyond the viaduct crossing it was making a high speed and, at a point near the exposition hall, a dark object was seen on the track only a short distance in front of the engine.  It was now quite dark and it was impossible to tell what the body was.  The engineer supposed that some one had made an attempt to wreck his train and when reaching Sherman reported the occurrence back to Denison.  The officers here were hunted up and in a short time Messrs. Tracy, Loving and Justice Hughes were on the yard enging ready to go down to the point indicated. On arriving at the rapid transit crossing the mutilated body of a white man was found strewn along the track.  The head, trunk and arms were picked up first and down the track about 100 yards were the legs.  There were no signs of an interference with the track and it was evident that the man run over was the cause of the engineer's alarm.  The remains of the man were gathered up as best it could and brought back to town, and Tuesday morning an inquest was held.  The body was so badly mutilated that positive identification was impossible.  He wore dark clothes and in a pocket was found 35 cents in change.  In another pocket was a time book, in which was the name T.M. Bolze.  On another page were the letters B.R.V. and a number of figures, showing that its owner had been carefully keeping his time while at work.  On one finger was an engraved gold ring.  A black silk handerchief was tied about his neck.  Undertaker Harriman took charge of the body, which was buried in Oakwood.
