Denison The Sunday Gazetteer Sunday, December 2, 1883 SINGULAR DEATH An old man living a few miles east of the city, an Englishman, named Joseph Taylor, was found dead near the old slaughter house last Tuesday morning. He had been in the city the day before and drank quite heavily. Late in the evening he started with his wagon and team for home. His team reached his residence with its occupant missing. It is supposed he fell from the wagon when found, and sustained injuries which rendered him partially insane, as when discovered he had on only his shirt, his other clothing and shoes being scattered along where he had evidently crawled through the brush. The body was found lying near a pool of water where he had evidently drank. No money was found in his pockets, although it is believed he had about $75 with him when he started home; hence it is supposed by some he was knocked off the wagon by some unknown person, robbed and then left to died. The coroner's jury decided he died from exposure. He leaves a wife and 2 daughters, the latter are in the employ of the McDougall Hotel. OAKWOOD CEMETERY
