Denison The Sunday Gazetteer Sunday, April 19, 1891 pg. 4 A BRAKEMAN KILLED Passenger train No. 3, from the north Friday morning brought to the city the headless, armless and clotheless body of Wm. Crowl, a freight brakeman on the Choctaw division of the M. K. & T. Crowl was a native of England. He came to Denison a week or ten days ago from Monterey, Mexico, and secured employment on the M. K. & T., on April 14. He started north on his second trip about 1o'clock Friday morning as brakeman for Conductor Jeff Shelton. In going up Colbert hill, north of Red River, he fell from his train, but was not missed by the crew until the train had passed Calesiding. Conductor Shelton informed the office here by wire of the accident, and the train crew of No. 3 were instructed to look out for the missing man. The body with the head, left arm, left foot and entirely nude was found just north of the river lying between the rails. It was brought to the city, as stated, delivered to Undertaker Harriman, and, after suitable preparation, was interred in Oakwood Cemetery Friday afternoon. Mr. Crowl was about 28 years ...and had been in the railway service ....years. The cause or manner of the...will probably never be known. OAKWOOD CEMETERY
