Denison Denison Daily News Saturday, October 17, 1874 SUDDEN DEATH Mr. Robert Blackwood, a shoemaker, who has been working in this city for over a years, and for several months past employed in Mr. Tucker's shop, fell off his bench, about 4 o'clodk Friday evening, and suddenly expired. It is supposed he died from heart diseas, though he never complained of any such affection, and was in good health apparently when stricken down. He was a man in the habit of getting on sprees, which he would continue for days at a time, but the past week he had been temperate, and worked every day. Mr. Blackwood came to Denison with Dr. Shultz, and has wored side by side with Mr. Tucker most of the time while in the city. He was born in Scotland - came to this county about 12 years ago; served in the Union Army, and received an honorable discharge. He had no family and no kin folks in America. He was known as a superior workman. His most intimate friend in Denison was Mr. Christie who served with him in the Union Army. His acquaintances saw him decently buried, Mr. Tucker and Mr. McDougall furnishing several carriages. Esquire Kirk held an inquest over the body, the jury returning a verdict that deceased came to his death from appoplexy. OAKWOOD CEMETERY
