Denison The Denison Press Wednesday, October 2, 1940 pg. 1 Loren D. Gaffey, 72, a carpenter-contractor and a resident of Denison 35 years, died at 2:40 a.m. today at a local hospital following an illness of six months. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday from Short-Murray chapel, followed by internment at Oakwood Cemetery. Mr. Gaffey was born December 19, 1867 at Central Square, New York, as son of Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Gaffey and came to Denison in 1905. He was formerly employed by the F.W. Woolworth company at Schenectady, New York, but on his arrival in Denison, opened a variety store in partnership with his twin brother, O.E., in the 300 block W. Main, known as the Gaffey Bros. company. Retiring from this business, he has been doing carpentry and contracting work. He was unmarried. Surviving is his brother, of Corpus Christi, and a sister, Mrs. C.J. Church of Boldwinsville, New York. OAKWOOD CEMETERY
