Denison The Sunday Gazetteer Sunday, October 9, 1887 pg. 7 MRS C.W. CHAPMAN DEAD The Gazetteer records with regret the death of Marietta, wife of Mr. C.W. Chapman of the Evening Journal, which occurred Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Monday forenoon the lady gave birth to a beautiful little daughter after which she began to sink and never rallied. Mrs. Chapman died at the tender age of eighteen - at a period when life is filled with hope and rich with promise of happy days and before she had yet felt the hallowing responsiblity of a mother's cares. She was a most amiable lady and a devoted wife and her untimely death is a fearful blow to the affectionate husband to whom the hearts of a wide community go out in sympathy. The Gazetteer joins with the many friends of the family in extending condolence to the bereaved friends. The funeral took place at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon from the family residence on Sears street, a very large concourse of friends being present. The interment took place at Oakwood Cemetery.
