  Phyllis Mary Ann Leasure 17 March 1931 - 18 August 2011 Thomas R. Leasure 30 June 1929 - 23 May 2023  The Herald Democrat August 21, 2011 Denison - Phyllis Mary Ann (Marose) Leasure, age 80, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 18, 2011 following a short illness. Phyllis was born to Martin and Minerva Marose in Newton, Iowa on March 17, 1931. She married the love of her life, Thomas R. Leasure, on December 7, 1949 at the Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashua, Iowa. They celebrated their 61st anniversary in December. Phyllis worked in the Denison and Sherman area for several years for the local hospitals, in administration. She loved to sew and was the most creative person you would ever meet. She had a wonderful sense of humor, and was a joy to be around. She loved the Lord and her nine children were her life. Phyllis was a kind and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed but will live on forever in her family and friends hearts. She is survived by her husband of almost 62 years, Thomas R. Leasure of the home; daughters: Sandy Meyer of Denison; Lyndi Starling and husband, Doug, of Davenport, Iowa; Donnie Bell and husband, Don, of Davenport, Iowa; Carla Bucher and husband, David, of Denison; Annie Dillard and husband, Bob, of Denison; and Barbie Price and husband, Jr., of Sherman; sons: Marty Leasure of Denison; Tommy Leasure and wife, Sheila, of Denison; and John Leasure and wife, Michelle, of Allen, Texas; grandchildren: Jason Leasure, Bryan Leasure, Lauren Hillard, Chad Leasure, Brook Morrison, Eric Starling, Amber Jacks, Beth Ann Evans, Ashely Gibson, Jason Gibson, Leslie Gibson, Tasha Schaded, Leo Bucher, Luke Bucher, Deann Lemon, Morgan Lemon, Shauna Smart, Marcus Garvin, Jennifer Garvin, Ricky Price, Amanda Leasure, Alex Leasure, and Ben Leasure. Phyllis also had 24 great grandchildren. Sisters: Carol Hurley and husband, Jan, of the Villages, Florida; Jo Ann Fox and husband, Bill, of Dickerson, Maryland; and sister-in-law, Barbara Henderson of Newton, Iowa. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, August 22, 2011 in Fisher Funeral Chapel with Pastor Mark Mitchell officiating. Interment followed at Oak Ridge Cemetery with Leo Bucher, Eric Starling, Chad Leasure, Luke Bucher, Alex Leasure, and Marcus Garvin serving as pallbearers. Arrangements were under the direction of Fisher Funeral Home, located at 604 West Main in Denison.  Thomas Roland Leasure, 93, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, May 23, 2023. Tom was born June 30, 1929 in Des Moines, Iowa, son of Frank and Olive Mae Leasure. On December 7, 1949 he married the love of his life, Phyllis Marose, at the historic Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashua, Iowa. They celebrated 61 years of marriage when Phyllis passed in 2011. Tom worked for The Rock Island Railroad in Iowa in his younger years. In his later years, he relocated from Iowa to Texas and worked as a mechanic for Oscar Meyer, where he later retired. Tom loved Harley Davidson motorcycles. He owned many Harleys and rode daily until he was 85 years old. He was an avid carpenter and innovator, making beautiful woodwork of all kinds. Tom had a wonderful sense of humor and was a joy to be around. He loved the Lord, his family and his 9 children. He was a devoted husband and father. Tom was preceded in death by his beautiful wife of 61 years, Phyllis Leasure; as well as his great-grandson, Jacob Starling. Tom leaves behind his beloved family: daughters, Sandy Meyer and husband, Chuck, of Denison, Texas; Lyndi Starling and husband, David, of Denison, Texas; Annie Dillard and husband, Bob, of Denison, Texas; Barbie Blanton and husband, LB, of Denison, Texas; sons: Marty Leasure of Denison, Texas; Tommy Leasure and wife, Sheila, of Denison, Texas; John Leasure and wife, Michelle, of Van Alstyne, Texas; grandchildren: Jason Leasure, Bryan Leasure, Chad Leasure, Lauren Franks, Brooke Morrison, Eric Starling, Amber Jacks, Beth Evans, Ashley Neu, Les Paul Gibson, Jason Gibson, Tasha Schaded, Liberty Bell Swarm, Leo Bucher, Luke Bucher, Deann Pool, Morgan Lemon, Shauna Smart, Marcus Garvin, Jennifer Rogers, Casy Blanton, Chris Spost, Amanda Leasure, Alex Leasure, and Ben Leasure; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; his sister, Barbara Henderson of Newton, Iowa. Funeral services were held Saturday morning, May 27, 2023 at Fisher Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Casy Blanton officiating. Interment followed at Oak Ridge Cemetery with grandsons as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, please make memorials in his name to Denison's local food kitchen and homeless aid.
