On August 10, 2017 another angel was given his wings. James Douglas Hiberd, age 78, slipped peacefully into the arms of Jesus at his home surrounded by his loving family.
James was born November 16, 1938 in Durant, Oklahoma, the son of James and Minnie Hiberd. He married the love of his life, Linda Nell McCoy, May 30, 1957, in Durant, Oklahoma. James was a veteran of the US Army where he served our country during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

James loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. But his most cherished person was his wife, Linda; they celebrated 56 years together here on this earth but will spend eternity together. His life was a true testimony of what it means to be a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather . He never failed to tell you how much he loved you or how beautiful you were. His passing leaves a void in so many lives, but his indomitable spirit will dwell in our hearts forever.
He leaves behind his loving family: son, James Anthony Hiberd and wife, Melissa, of Arkansas; daughters, Vita Ortega, of Colbert, Oklahoma; Kathy Dennis and husband, Keith, of Denison, Texas; 7 grandchildren: Tiffany Dennis Miller, Amee Dennis, Jeremy Strand, Jeri Daun Hiberd, Jessica Hiberd, DJ Shields and Christopher Erickson; 10 great-grandchildren including Braylee Daun Steens, Maddix J Riddick, Jaxen Strand and Romeo Strand; sisters, Lola Taylor, Nancy Stafford and Minnie White.
James was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Linda Nell McCoy Hiberd; beloved son, Jerry Don Hiberd; parents, James Lowell Hiberd and Minnie May Henderson Hiberd; and foster daughter, Deedrea Vargas.
Funeral was held on Aigist 14, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. at American Funeral Home Chapel, Denison, Texas with Rev. Raymond England officiating,  Interment followed.  Pallbearers were Aaron Miller, Jeremy Strand, Mike Riddick, DJ Shields, Leslie Pruitt, Phillip Dennis and Robbie Joiner.
The family wants to thank all of their family and friends for the prayers, food, phone calls, visits and being there for us during this trying time. It wasn’t an easy road, but somehow you were always here for our family. We love you all.
