Funeral services were held at Funderburk Funeral Home Thursday, October 11 for Jacob Washington Brister, 88, of 123 E. Bullock, who died at his home Wednesday morning.  Rev. B.C. Brown, pastor of Calvary Baptist and Rev. Ronald Prince of Parkside Baptist officiated and interment was in Oakridge Cemetery.
Mr. Brister had been ill for a year.  He was a retired farmer.  He was born in Leesville, Louisiana, October 9, 1863.  He was a memberof the Baptist church and lived in Hillsboro before coming to Denison 33 years ago.
Survivors include one son, Jake Brister of Stockton, California; 7 daughters, Mrs. W.S. Starnes of Hillsboro; Mrs. W.C. Default, Mrs. J.C. Faust, Mrs. F.F. Chadwick, Mrs. E.L. Pierce, Mrs. Ethel Means, and Miss Malvina Brister, all of Denison; a sister, Mrs. Sebbie Hines of San Augustine, Texas; 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
