Stribling 23 August 1895 - 25 July 1962 Texas PFC 27th Co. 165th Depot Brigade WWI Whitesboro - Funeral services for Mary Elizabeth Stribling, 101, were held Saturday, September 1, 2012 at the First Baptist Church of Whitesboro with Bro. Mike Flanagan officiating and Hank Lovejoy assisting. Interment followed at Mt. Zion Cemetery, North located at Rock Creek near Gordonville. Mary Elizabeth passed away Thursday, August 30, 2012. She was born November 9, 1910 to Richard William and Laura Iris (Hight) Horton in McKinney, Texas. She married Floyd Stribling November 20, 1930 in Marietta, Oklahoma. She was a graduate of Austin College in Sherman. She was a retired teacher serving in many rural schools as well as Whitesboro and at St. Mary's in Gainesville. She was a member of the History Club, a charter member of the West Grayson Retired School Personnel Association, and member of First Baptist Church of Whitesboro. She received the Humanitarian Award from the Whitesboro Chamber of Commerce. She was active in her community by serving as a Sunday School teacher, a WMU director, and holding various offices of leadership in the Grayson Baptist Association. She was a TFWC Life Member and Volunteer of the Year for the Trinity District. She was also a member of the Golden 'Roos (the Austin College 50 year Alumni Association). She is survived by her daughter, Mary Anne Brock and husband, Tommy, of North Richland Hills; grandchildren, Rodric Brock of North Richland Hills and Robyn Nix of Colleyville, Texas; great-grandchildren, Connor Brock and Caroline Brock of Naperville, Illinois; Ian Brock and Rowan Brock of North Richland Hills; Noah Nix and Presley Nix of Colleyville; and niece Mrs. Nancy Anderson of Grand Prairie. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Ruby Louise Hall; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. - - - Meador Funeral Home Mt.
