Our beloved mother, Lola F. Bomar, went home to be with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, August 14, 2021 after suffering a stroke.  She was 95 years old.  A Celebration of Life service at Sherwood Shores Church with Pastor Bobby Baker officiating.
Lola was born May 11, 1926 in Chicago, Illinois, daughter of William and Freda Koeppel Nelson.  As a girl she grew up in Des Moines, Iowa. She married Robert Earl Bowman.  She worked at the John Deere Munitions plant during the latter year of World War II.  She and her husband moved to a rural Madrid, Iola farm to give the kids more room for horses.  She attended and taught Sunday School at the Hopkins Grove United Methodist Church there until moving north of Whitesboro, Texas in 1978.
She was a housewife and a much-loved mother to 5 children.  She was a longtime member of the GFWC History Club of Whitesboro, a grassroots volunteer organization.  She loved reading her Bible, writing stories, watching church on TV, visits and phone calls from family, and painting.  She loved painting butterflies and promoting pollinators.  She took up painting after the death of her beloved husband, LTC. William Bomer.  She loved art shows and had entries in the Whitesboro Art Show and the Madill Art Show.  Her life was full of summers with the grandkids, camping with the family, raising Jack Russels, and even going to Austria with daughter, Carolyn Jo, to look up her roots and visit family.  She believed in the volunteer spirit, helping others, the arts, recycling, and encouraging young people to love the Lord.  She worked with an afterschool "Good News" program for 17 years at the Sherwood Shores Chapel in Gordonville.  She loved the people of Whitesboro and had many friends.  She believed people should be more loving of others and forgiving.
Lola is survived by her children: Pauline Emery and husband, John, of Ardmore, Oklahoma; Carolyn Jo Snow and husband, James Robert, of Whitesoboro; Scott Bowman and wife, Sue, of Panora, Iowa; Laura Branch of Gainesville; and Stacey Bowman of Whitesboro; her half-sister, Donna Samuelson and husband, Rick, of Big Bear, California; and Jimmy Nelson and wife, Sharon, of Rancho Cucamonga, California; 7 grandchildren: Daniel Moore, Teresa Emery, Robyn Emery, Travis Bowman, Krisha Bowman, Jeff Quinn, Melissa Laughlin, and numerous great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert E. Bowman; her late in life marriage (2009) to LTC. William Bomer; brother, Arthur Nelson of Florida; and half-brother, Bobby Nelson, of Calironia.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorial donations be made to the History Club of Whitesboro, Texas.
