Cecil, 70, of Sadler, died Wednesday, March 26, 2003 at his residence.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 29, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at Huff Funeral Chapel in Whitesboro, for Oggie Newton Cecil, with Rev. Rusty Waller officiating, assisted by Rev. Billy Reed. Interment was in Mt. Tabor Cemetery, Grayson County, under the direction of Huff Funeral Home. He died Wednesday, March 26, 2003 at his Sadler residence. Honorary pallbearers were #536 Gordonville Masonic Lodge members. Born January 12, 1933 at Cedar Mills, Texas, he was the son of the late Oggie Archibald Cecil and Lucille Logue Cecil. He married Greta Dutton August 4, 1954 in Sherman. He was a thirty-second degree Mason, was Past Grand Master of the Gordonville Masonic Lodge #536, and received the "Golden Trowel Award" from the Masons; was a member of Scottish Rite; served in the U.S. Army two years, (1952-1954); and retired from General Motors, where he was employed from 1955 to 1987, and was a supervisor for 19 years. He was married for 48 years and was an outstanding member of the community. He was also a rancher and a member of First Baptist Church in Gordonville where he served as a deacon. Survivors are his wife, Greta Cecil of Sadler; one son, Jay Newton Cecil, of Sadler; two daughters and son-in-law, Cheryl Kay Burge, of Sadler, and Karen Rae and Phil Bouza of Austin, Texas; four sisters, Pat Reese and Delores Worthington, both of Whitesboro, Marvis Doughty of Dallas, and Bonnie Beard of Blytheville, Arkansas; seven grandchildren, Brooke Werner of Sadler, John Ryan Wood of Austin, Cody Lee Burge, of Sadler, Lacey Danielle Cecil of Sadler, Philip Bouza of Austin, Lindsey Taylor Cecil of Sadler, and Briana Bouza of Austin. Memorials may be made to the Building Fund, First Baptist Church, Gordonville, Texas.
