Sunday Morning, July 23, 1876 pg. 1 LIEUTENANT HARE PROMOTED Lieutenant Luther R. Hare, of the 7th United Sates cavalry, son of Judge Silas Hare of this city, has been promoted to the office of first Lieutenant in his regiment. A great many friends of this accomplished young officer in Sherman will be glad to know of his rise in the army. He has recently had an opportunity to flesh his sword in the bloodiest Indian fight of this century, and we have no doubt that he bore himself gallantly in that memorable battle.
