Friday, February 19, 1943 pg 6 William Yancy Freeman Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. William Y. Freeman, 520 W. Crawford street, has been commissioned 2nd Lieutenant in the U. S. Marine Corps and will undergo the final phases of rugged official training at Quantico, Virginia, before taking to the field to lead leathernecks in battle. "Bill" as he is known to the Press force where he once served as reporter, graduated from Denison High School, attended Austin College and Texas Christian University.
