Harold Gene Austin   HAROLD GENE AUSTIN, son of Mr. and Mrs. Royce W. Austin of Van Alstyne route 2, was one of the soldiers
in the first group to land in North Africa. A 1938 graduate of Van Alstyne high school, he volunteered for the air forces Feb. 14, 1942. He received his training at Salt Lake City and Wendover field, Utah, and Muroc air base and Victorville flying field.
