James Donald Simpson, better known to friends as Jim, was born in Iowa City, IA, February 21, 1940 and passed on September 28. 2014.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Opal Kelly; and father, Donald James Beard; brother, Alvin Beard; and son, David Simpson; two infant twins, Timothy & Tammy.
They were the owners of Miss Ellie's Shop.  He spent 50 years in upholstery business, many of his creations in the 60s made the covers of Hot Rod & Rod & Custom magazines. He was known as the seat cover king.  He loved restoring antiques, fishing and hunting, playing practical jokes and just loving life, most of the time with a guitar and song in hand. He was a Christian and a member of Emanuel Baptist Church, Denison, Texas.
This poem was written by his mother when Jim left for Texas in 1964.

"Little Jim left the other day,
I think he went away to stay.
If I could have him home today,
My heart would be forever gay.
But I know my hopes are all in vain,
So I will have to bear the pain.
My love for him is ever near,
So now I hope that he can hear,
My words of love straight from the heart,
Although we are so far a part.
Heaven is waiting for him this day.
His family left behind misses him."
