Denison - A Celebration of Life for Mrs. Dorothy Nell Harris, 71, of Denison, was held Wednesday morning, October 17, 2012 at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church located at 530 W. Walker St. in Denison.  Pastor K.W. King officiated.  Interment followed at Magnolia Cemetery.
Dorothy Nell was born in Denison on August 6, 1941, daughter of James Edward Lee and Sallie Thelma Roberts.  She was a graduate of Terrell High School in Denison.  Dorothy attended Madonna Nursing School and in 1965 she graduated as an LVN and became employed with Texoma Medical Center.  After 11 years with TMC, Dorothy decided to continue her education in the medical field, and became the first African-American Nurse in Grayson Co. to specialize in Hemo-Dialysis.  She went on to serve in this capacity for over 29 years and received many awards and accolades for her committed service while touching the lives of many patients and their families.  
On Wednesday, October 10, 2012, while in the comfort of her home, Dorothy Nell Harris was called to be with her Heavenly Father and transitioned from labor to reward.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Robert Harris, Jr.; daughter, Tameshia Hams; granddaughter, Jetia Ewing; nephew, Artie Lee, Jr. (Sandra); sisters-in-law, Lois Lee and Wanda Lee and Jean Reddick, along with many other relatives and friends.  The Harris family received personal care from Cravens Funeral Home.
