Lola Faye Slaughter McFadden was born on August 11, 1929 to the parents of Lestus and Lillian Beard Slaughter. God saw fit to bring her home on Sunday, August 31, 2014 at the age of 85. Lola Faye was born in Bethel community, near Bells, Texas. The family relocated to the Sherman-Denison area where she lived the rest of her life, worshipping and praising the Lord. Lola Faye attended and graduated from Fred Douglas School in 1949. She married Clifton McFadden in December 1960 in Durant, Oklahoma. She worked at the Denison Cotton Mill and later as a home health caregive to provide for her family. She was no stranger to hard work. Lola Faye McFadden was most knownn for her home - countless children of family, friends - she never met a stranger; she welcomed everyone and was loved by all. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend and confidant. Sister Faye loved the Lord and was a member of the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church in Denison, Texas for many years. She served in various offices wherever there was a need; she was willing and never complained. She was an Announcement Clerk, President of the Usher Board, Senior Mission and highly respected and loved Mother of the Church. Lola Faye was a very family oriented person, being an example of God's love to her family - a matriarch of the large family God blessed her with. She touched many hearts throughout the years. Lola Faye was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brother, James Nathaniel Beard. She is survived by her loving family - sister, Shirley Wells of Dade City, Florida; 6 children - William McFadden and wife Faye of Lawton, Oklahoma; Elwanda Hamilton of Denison; Tonya McFadden of Denison; Darlene McFadden of Denison; Duone McFadden and wife Teresa of Eielson AFB, Alaska; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members and friends. The Home-going Celebration Services were held Saturday afternoon, September 6, 2014 at Mount Vernon Baptist Church in Denison,.
