John Malvern Sr. 12 October 1913 - 9 January 1998 Katherine Malvern 23 June 1921 - 14 April 2011 John
Malvern was born October 12, 1913 to the union of Jesse and Lillie
Malvern. He moved to Denison, Texas along with his family because
his father received a job to work on the Katy Railroad in Denison.
The family settled on a homestead on what is now the corner of
Perry and Washington streets in Denison. The Malvern home has now
been torn down but the plot of land still remains.
John married Louise Woods and together they had 4 children. He also had 4 other children. He later married Katherine Akers and she survives him as his widwo. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was an auto mechanic by trade; he worked at Babcocks in downtown Denison and Qt's. Mr. Malvern was a respected citizen of Denison and was loved by his family and community. He served as a Deacon of the Iron Ore Baptist Church in Denison until his death. A plaque on the outside of the church building still bears his name. John Malvern was truly a great man.
