Pierce 12 November 1920 - 23 August 2014 U.S. Army WWII, 1943 - 1945 Lucretia "Jimmie" Martin Pierce 28 July 1923 - 25 July 2016 wed 3 November 1940 Amarillo Globe-News August 25, 2014 James R.G. Pierce, 94, of Amarillo died Sunday, August 23, 2014. Services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Golden Plains Church of Christ with Pastor Keith Feerer officiating. Burial was Thursday in Locust Cemetery in Pottsboro. Arrangements were by Griggs-Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 S. Bell. Mr. Pierce was born November 12, 1920, in Hollis, Oklahoma, to Ruben and Lee Pierce. He was a highly dedicated and competitive fisherman. In 1942, he was drafted into the Army, where he served 2 years, fighting in the Battle of the Bulge and later in the Southern Philippines, Luzon Islands and Korea. He was awarded 3 Bronze Stars for his service in the Philippines. He returned home to start his career in the boating industry, owning Pierce Boat Sales in Logan, New Mexicol Pierce Marina in Clovis, New Mexico; and Pierce Marina at Ute Lake in New Mexico. James was married to his wife Jimmie for 74 wonderful years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruben Garfield and Lee Burroughs Pierce. Survivors include his wife, Jimmie Martin Pierce of Amarillo; two sons, Alan Pierce of Dallas and Larry Pierce and wife Terry of Amarillo; a brother, Gary Pierce of Hollis, Oklahoma; two sisters, Helen Robinson and Linda Pierce, both of Lubbock; three grandsons, Mathew Pierce and wife Ginger of College Station, Michael Pierce and wife Laura of Las Cruces, New Mexico, and Timothy Pierce and wife Amy of Canadian; and four great-grandchildren, Ryan and Emma Pierce of College Station and Olivia and Hunter Pierce of Canadian. Burial was Saturday in Locust Cemetery in Pottsboro. Arrangements were by Griggs-Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors. Jimmy was born July 28, 1923 in Oklahoma City. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed nature, spending several years at Ute Lake, Logan, New Mexico, helping with the family business, Pierce Boat Sales and Pierce Marina. During her free time, she played the organ and was a member of Sweet Adaline's. She was also a member of the local Republican National Committee. She was preceded in death by her husband; a sister, Ruby Burgett Simons; and Aunt Margaret Hanna and Ms. Polk. Survivors include her sons, Larry Pierce and wife, Terry; and Alan Pierce; a brother, Otto Burgett; a sister, Ruth Burgett Scott; her grandsons, Matthew Pierce and wife, Ginger; Michael Pierce and wife, Laura; and Timothy Pierce and wife, Amy; and her great-grandchildren, Ryan, Emma, Olivia and Hunter Pierce.
