WHITESBORO, Texas - Services for Velva Edith "Bobbie" Hestand, 86, Ardmore, were held Mondayafternoon at Huff Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Harold Watson officiating. Interment followed at Liberty Cemetery, Grayson County, Texas.
Born December 16, 1911, at May, Texas, daughter of Samuel and Lula Belle Bond Britt, she died June 26, 1998, at the Ardmore hospital following a lengthy illness. She married Roy Smith Hestand on February 2, 1943, at Grayson County, Texas. He preceded her in death on November 16, 1986. She was also preceded in death by a son, Billy Gene Mayo, on April 1, 1972.
Mrs. Hestand was a former employee of Sheppard Air Force Base Annex.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Gordonville, Texas.
Survivors include one son, John Mayo, of Ardmore; one sister, Bess Barnes, of Whitesboro; 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
Pallbears were grandsons, Jody, Britt, Ricky, and Gregg Mayo, Danny Mayo (Lintner) and Kam Pierce. Honorary pallbearers were Lee Bob Hall, Ronald Joe Hestand and Wayne Rippetoe.
