18 December 1861 - 10 September 1899 The Sunday Gazetteer Sunday, September 17, 1899 Tuesday, September 12 ...John Lankford, aged about 40, raised east of Denison, was killed in a runaway near Ida some time Saturday night or Sunday morning. Lankford has been with Superintendent Joe Simmon of the county convict camp as cook for some time. Lankford had delivered a convict and was on his way back to the camp when the accident occurred.
