Dero
Rowland, nephew of Tom Brice, was visiting the gin where his father
worked. He was playing a respectable distance from the area where his
father was cleaning the greasy machinery with boiling water. Dero
wandered too close to the pit and slid into it. Although he was
immediately rescued from the hot slush, much of his body had been
exposed to the searing steam. He was buried in the Kentucky Town
Cemetery.
