A PIONEER PASSES AWAY
(By a Friend, J.W.C.)

Out in the family cemetery among the flowers and roses lies the mortal remains of Sister Mary C. Johnson (or "Aunt Mary" as she was commonly called), wife of Thos P. Johnson, who preceded her to the glory world 19 years.
The subject of this sketch departed this life Sunday afternoon, November 14, 1920.  She was born in Barron County, Kentucky on San Jacinto Day, April 1, 1836, being 84 years of age.  She, with her parents, came to Texas in 1850 and married Thos. P. Johnson in 1851 and settled near old Kentuckytown in this county.  Afterwards moved to Cedar Mills in 1858 and had resided there ever since.  There were born to this union 3 children, 2 daughters and 1 son as follows:  Mrs. Mary F. Saunders, deceased; Mrs. O.M. Overstreet of Frederick, Oklahoma; and Horace J. Johnson, who resides on his and his mother's homestead at Cedar Mills.  Aunt Mary leaves an only sister, Mrs. S.E. Noel, who resides at Cedar Mills.
Funeral services were held at her home Monday afternoon conducted by Elder J.R. Rutherford, her pastor, and Elder H.M. Short, her former pastor.  A large concourse of friends and relatives will mourn her departure.
She was a faithful member of the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church No. 1 for 49 years, being a charter member of this church, which was organized in 1871.
