Nora Belle Blythe 5 February 1887 - 15 August 1970 John Hardy Blythe 21 October 1880 - 23 June 1962 Sherman Herald Democrat Van Alstyne - Funeral services were held Monday afternoon Methodist Church for John Hardy Blythe, 80, of Van Alstyne. Blythe died at 12:40 a.m. Saturday. He was a member of the Methodist Church. Rev. Don Davis conducted the services with burial in Holloway Cemetery, under the direction of Flesher Funeral Home. He was born October 21, 1880 in Ripley, Mississippi, son of Henry and Francis Blythe. He married Nora Belle Martin November 16, 1902 at Gibtown. Survivors are his wife; 3 sons, Elmer Blythe of Denison; Leonard Blythe of Vab Alstyne; and Homer Blythe of Sherman; 3 daughters, Mrs. Gladys Austin of Gunter; Mrs. A.C. Blass of Abilene; and Mrs. E.R. Anderson of Dallas; one sister, Mrs. L.C. Enochs of Mesquite; 14 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Sherman Herald Democrat Van Alstyne - Services were held Monday afternoon at the First Methodist Church here for Mrs. Nora Belle Bythe, 83, who died at 10 a.m. Saturday in a McKinney hospital. Rev. Dale Swain conducted the services, with burial in Holloway Cemetery under the direction of Flesher Funeral Home. Mrs. Blythe was born February 5, 1887 in Texas, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Martin. She married J.H. Blythe, who preceded her in death, on June 23, 1962. Mrs. Blythe was a member of the Van Alstyne Methodist Church. She was also preceded in death by a daughter and a son. Survivors include 2 daughters, Mrs. Gladys Austin of Gunter, and Mrs. Opal Anderson of Ft. Worth; 3 sons, Elmer F. Blythe of Palestine; Leonard "Shorty" Blythe of Van Alstyne; and Homer H. Blythe of Sherman; 15 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, John Martin of Weatherford; 2 sisters, Mrs. Irene Pettit of Lubbock, and Mrs. Bessie Stone of California.
