Paul Lamar Smith 18 July 1946 - Judy Harper Smith 15 February 1943 - 1 December 2008 wed 28 May 1994 Services for Judy W. Smith, 65, of Whitewright were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 4, 2008 at the Tom Bean Church of Christ. Kerry King, Butch Balzen and Jeremy Atchely officiated the services. Burial followed at the Holloway Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home. Judy passed away on December 1, 2008 at the Wilson N. Jones Medical Center in Sherman. She was born on February 15, 1943, the daughter of Everett and Elaine Wood Harper. After graduating high school she continued her schooling and graduated from Northeastern State University with her degree in Education. Judy married Paul L. Smith on May 28, 1994. She taught for more than 30 years, 29 of those in the Plano ISD. During this time she mentored, coached and impacted hundreds of children. Her legacy will live on in many generations in which she had a positive impact. Judy was a fervent advocate of education, in which she poured her life's work into. Judy was energetic, loving and a giving person. She doted over her grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Judy shared a love of animals with her husband Paul as they raised horses, cows, dogs and guineas on their ranch in Whitewright. She was a faithful member of the Tom Bean Church of Christ where she served as a Bible teacher for years. Judy is survived by her husband Paul Smith; daughter Cherae Balzen and husband Butch; stepdaughter Sonya Atchely and husband Jeremy; stepdaughter Selisa Koss; brother Jon Harper and wife Kathy; nephew Brad Harper and wife Dee; and niece Jennifer Harper. She is also survived by grandchildren, Faith and Kennedy Balzen, Jayston and Britton Atchely, Tyler and Jacob Koss; two great-nephews, Cody Gorman and Lane Harper; one great-niece, London Harper; and many brothers and sisters-in-law; and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and son C.J.
