 Herald Democrat Graveside services for Helen C. Johnson, age 82, of Whitewright, Texas were held at 11 a.m. on Friday at the Holloway Cemetery in Luella, Texas with Bro. Charles Moore officiating. Services were under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home in Sherman, Texas. Helen passed away on Monday, October 27, 2014 at the Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas. She was born on July 10, 1932 in Sherman, the daughter of Nell and Bessie Allison Bruton. Helen married Ben Johnson on December 29, 1948 and he later passed away in March of 1983. Helen was a member of the Ida Baptist Church for many years. She was best known for her love of sitting in her driveway reading while watching her grandchildren play and waving at every car that passed by. Helen is survived by her two sons, Ricky W. Johnson of Tom Bean, Texas and Robert M. Johnson and wife Wanda of Whitewright, Texas; five grandchildren, Christy Filbeck and husband Roger of Era, Texas, Michael Johnson and wife Linsi of Tom Bean, Texas, Jason Johnson and Leslie of Ida, Texas, Lindsey Johnson and Cody of Ida, Texas and Josh Johnson of Oklahoma. She is also survived by 10 great grandchildren, Peyton, Maddi, Karson, Kaylin, Kaycee, Kennedi, Baylen, Logan, Ty and Ethan, two great great grandchildren, Bryce and Ali and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Charles and Bobby Bruton and one sister, Oleta Ragsdale. Pallbearers were Michael Johnson, Jason Johnson, Roger Filbeck, Peyton Henson, Ty Hurt and Cody Godbey. Honorary pallbearers were Baylen Merriman, Logan Johnson and Ethan Filbeck.
