Whitewright - Funeral services for Charles William Copeland, Sr. were held at 3:00 PM Sunday, February 15 in the Kentuckytown Baptist Church in Whitewright. Rev. Rodney Stanford officiated. Burial with military honors followed at Holloway Cemetery with Earl Chesser, Mike Savage, John Griffin, Eddie McCartney, Mike Copeland, and JD Woods serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Keith Gary, Larry Phillips, Clyde Siebman, Lori Blake, Joe Brown, and Bobbie Peterson Cate. Mr. Copeland, 73, went home to be with his Lord and Savior with family present, holding his hand, Wednesday, February 11 at his home in Whitewright. Charles was born January 1, 1942 near Kentuckytown to the late Gene and Mary (Pennell) Copeland. He graduated from Whitewright schools and served four years in the US Navy. He and Sandra Ashford were married in 1988 on the family farm near Ida. Charles worked as a plumber for Sanders Plumbing, Brown and Root Construction, and Copeland and Son Plumbing. He was actively involved in the Republican Party of Grayson County and had served as the Precinct Chairman for Whitewright. Mr. Copeland taught Sunday School for many years and was currently a member of the Ida Baptist Church. He enjoyed being outdoors, especially tinkering with things or fishing. Mr. Copeland is survived by his wife Sandra of Whitewright; son, Charles Copeland, Jr. and wife Tina of Whitewright; four stepchildren, Kim Hartless of Gordonville, Sherrie Parish and husband Mark of Luella, Tim Gray and wife Amy of Sherman, and Debbie Womack and husband Charlie of Grand Prairie; grandchildren, Amanda Grissom and husband Jessey of Ector, Keith Copeland and wife Kristen of Cherry Mound, Corey Hartless of Frisco, Eric Hartless of Sherman, Nathan Parish of Sherman, Cody Parish of Sherman, Presley Gray of Sherman, Cason Gray of Sherman, and Michael Green of Washington State, Jamie Carrigan and husband Stephen of Vancleave, Mississippi, Jimmy Green and wife Crystal of Vancleave, Chad Thompson and wife Cassie of Sherman, JD Woods and wife Samantha of Tom Bean, and Lori Wences and husband Pedro of Pottsboro; great grandchildren, Hadlee Copeland, Ethan Grissom, Connor Grissom, Grayson Parish, and Brooklyn Parish; siblings, Paula Mulder of New Braunfels, Jerry Copeland and wife Debbie of Carthage, Clydene Moore and husband Thomas of Frisco, and Becky Burcham and husband Dean of Waskom; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-son William Woods, and step-daughter, Betty Ann Woods..
