  Services for Charlsie Burleson, age 74 of Van Alstyne, were held at 1:00 pm Thursday, March 13, 2014 at Scoggins Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Gary Gibbs officiated and burial followed in the Holloway Cemetery. She was born January 19, 1940 in Atlanta, Texas to James Toll and Allene Pritchard Thomas. She married Edward Hugh Burleson in July of 1961 in Durant, Oklahoma. Charlsie was a beloved mother and loving wife. Charlsie owned and operated Antiques and Brass out of Sherman, Texas for over twenty years before retiring. Charlsie was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Burleson. She is survived by sons and their wives, Matt and Alyssa Burleson of Van Alstyne, Hugh and Robin Burleson of Howe, Bill and Amanda Burleson of Fort Worth, Tim and Diane Zachry of Grand Prairie, and Marty and Annie Zachry of McAlester, Oklahoma. Daughters and their husbands, Lisa and David Veazey of Sachse, and Marilyn and Robert Hunt of Howe; 21 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Craig Dennis, Justin Hunt, Jason Pruitt , Eric Acton, Zack Zachry and K.C. Robinson. Services were under the direction of Scoggins Funeral Home, 637 W Van Alstyne Parkway, Van Alstyne. He was born December 14, 1938 in Groesbeck, Texas to Otis and Sue Stewart Burleson. He married Charlsie Thomas in July of 1961 in Durant, Oklahoma. Edward served in the United States Army and was retired from Texas Instruments as a Manufacture Manager. He is survived by his wife, Charlsie Burleson; sons and their wives, Matt and Alyssa Burleson of Van Alstyne, Hugh and Robin Burleson of Howe, and Bill and Amanda Burleson of Fort Worth. Daughters and their husbands, Lisa and David Veazey of Sachse and Marilyn and Robert Hunt of Howe. Stepsons and their wives, Tim and Diane Zachry of Grand Praire and Marty and Annie Zachry of McAlester, Oklahoma. Brothers and their wives, Kerry and Marlene Burleson of McKinney and Billy Jack and Mary Ellen Burleson of Plano. Sisters, Helen Whaley and husband Red of Forney, Martha Lawson of Austin, Marilyn Petty and husband Charles of Port Mansfield and Carol Fuller and husband Jim of Rockwall.
