Rodney "Bubba" Love was born in New Boston, Texas, appropriately on Valentine's Day, February 14, 1961. He went home to the Lord on the beautiful fall day of October 17, 2022. Bubba Love transplanted himself from East Texas to Van Alstyne in 1980 where he cultivated deep community roots through his willingness to render help and guidance to anyone in need. He never met a stranger. As soon as you met him, it seemed like you had known him your entire life. What you saw with him was what you got: an honest, hardworking, and caring man. Whether a neighbor required someone with excellent carpentry skills, or a family member needed hands-on guidance, "Mr. Bubba" was always there. He worked hard all his life and loved his family with an amazing fierceness. Blessed with a large, loving family, Bubba dedicated his life to being a husband, father, "surrogate" father, uncle and grandfather. He spent his earlier years coaching his own, as well as others' children, in various sports. In later years, he was often found cheering on his nieces, nephews and grandchildren at their games, always their biggest fan. His words and cheers of encouragement were not only for his family, but also the entire community. Bubba Love is survived by his wife of 32 years, Karen Love, whom he married on Valentine's Day in 1990; his brother, Kyle Chisum; sisters: Dora Holly (Lonnie) and Ruby Hathaway (Sandy); 3 sons, James Holloway (Julie), Ryan Holloway (Emily) and Marine Corporal Jesse Love; daughter, Tinsley Love; nieces: Erica Cillo, Erin Lopez, Laura Love, Whitney Thomas, Ashlynn Love and Alyssa Holloway; nephew, Jake Holloway; grandchildren: Gabriella Roland, Lexi Holloway, Emmet and Finley Holloway; and a host of great nieces and nephews he loved beyond measure. He is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Lucille Chisum; and brother, Thomas Dee Love. Services were held Friday, October 21, 2022 at Elmont Baptist Church in Van Alsytne, Texas; graveside service followed at Holloway Cemetery in Luella, Texas.
