  With deepest sorrow, we announce that Eddie Foy Phillips, 80, caring husband, father and son, passed away on Monday, August 10, 2020. Eddie was born on March 27, 1940, son of Arlie and Belle Phillips in Vernon, Texas. Eddie grew up working on the family farm in the area, later meeting his wife, Mary Ann, of 57 years. They moved to Garland, Texas where they had their 2 sons, Michael Kevin Phillips and Edward Kyle Phillips. Eddie worked for Lone Star Gas and later the Texas Department of Public Safety where he served as a Trooper for 25 years and then as a civilian supervisor for 26 years until his retirement in 2018. Eddie is survived by his wife of Garland; son, Kevin Phillips, of Gainesville, Texas; his grandchildren, Kayle Morris and husband, Cody, of Royse City, Texas; Jennifer Lemons and husband, Steven, of Saginaw, Texas; Michaela Phillips of McKinney, Texas; and Katelynn Phillips of Greenville; and his great-grandchildren, Kinsley, Jackson, Azlynn, and Cason. He was preceded in death by his son, Kyle Phillips; and his parents. Funeral services were held Wednesday morning, August 13, 2020 at Scoggins Funeral Home in Van Alstyne, Texas with burial services following at Holloway Cemetery in Grayson County. Pallbearers were Kevin Phillips, Cody Morris, Robert Martinson, Randall Martinson, James Martinson, and Stephen Jerls. Arrangements were under the direction of Scoggins Funeral Home, Van Alstyne, Texas. - - - Scoggins Funeral Home  The immediate family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Kyle's aunt and uncle, Paula and Bob Martinson for all their support shown to the family during the extremely and unexpected time in their lives. Kyle was born March 3, 1970, son of Eddie Foy Phillips and Mary Ann Phillips in Garland, Texas. Kyle never met a stranger, so his warm personality and caring demeanor led him to a successful career in customer service. Kyle's life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by him, understood the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. Kyle is survived by his parents of Garland, Texas; his daughter and her husband, Kayle and Cody Morris of Royse City, Texas; his daughter, Katelynn Phillips of Greenville, Texas; his brother, Kevin Phillips of Gainesville, Texas; his grandchildren, Kinsley and Azlynn Morris; along with aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Services were held Tuesday morning, June 2, 2020 at Scoggins Funeral Home Chapel with Todd Catteau officiating. Burial followed at Holloway Cemetery.
