Georgie G. Ratcliff 27 October 1905 - 22 September 1989 C.H. "Neal" Ratcliff 28 February 1904 - 22 September 1963 The Herald Democrat January 18, 2013 HOWE - Evert Earnest Ratcliff, 82, of Howe went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, the 15th of January after a long and courageous battle with the after effects of radiation from a cancer on his vocal chord. Evert was born June 4, 1930 in Yarnaby, Oklahoma, the son of Neal Harper and Georgia Willeford Ratcliff. He married Frankie Morris, February 19, 1954 in McKinney, Texas. To them were born two sons, Dwain Ratcliff and Larry Ratcliff. Evert served his Lord with gladness; shared his faith, and the goodness of the Lord with those to whom he came in contact. Evert was a giver. It blessed his heart to give to those in need, especially little children. He was active in his church, Christian Center church in Wheeler, Texas, serving on the board of deacons for many, many years. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean conflict. He loved the ole flag, and what it stood for. He worked in the oil field from the age of 17, until the drilling department went down in the late 198's. He worked on every part of a drilling rig, from the Worms corner, starting out, to the job of derrick man, motor man, driller, on up to tool pusher. He loved his job, and was good at it. Evert loved his family. He is survived by his wife, Frankie of Howe; two sons, Dwain and wife Janet of Kingfisher, Oklahoma; and Larry and wife Melinda of Sherman, Texas; two brothers, H.L. of Van Alstyne, and Earl of Whitewright; one sister; Ruth Spruiell of Pineville, Louisiana; one aunt: Genese Lansford of Willis, Texas; six grandchildren born to Dwain and Larry, and two he was blessed with through a second marriage: Larry Keith Ratcliff II of Calera, Oklahoma; Stacy Diane Gleaves of Sherman; Aaron Ratcliff of Paradise, Texas; Jeffery Ratcliff of Howe; Natasha Ratcliff of Denison, Texas; Patrisha Ratcliff of Calera, Oklahoma; Wendy Smith of Dorchester, Texas; Sarah Kretchmar of Kingfisher, Oklahoma; 11 great-grandchildren: four born to him, and seven he was blessed with through second marriages. He was preceded in death by his parpents; grandparents; one sister; and a host of uncles and aunts. Serving as pallbearers were nephews, Richard Arrington, H.L. Ratcliff, Jr., Rodney Earl Ratcliff, Terry Brown, Freddie Howard and Edwin Allison. Funeral services for Evert were held Friday, January 18, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Scoggins Funeral Home Chapel in Van Alstyne. Pastor Wallace Rains and Harvey Morris officiated. Burial followed at Hollaway Cemetery in Howe. Evert "Ran his race, he finished his course, and he kept the faith."
