Mrs. A.E. Miller 6 March 1836 - 21 December 1912 The Sherman Daily Democrat Thursday, December 26, 1912 pg. 8 THE PASSING OF ANOTHER PIONEER Last Saturday morning, December 21, 1912 at 5:30 o'clock the gentle spirit of Mrs. Ann Elizabeth Miller was called to it heavenly reward. She had been in ill health for some time; but grippe was the immediate cause of her death. Deceased was a native of Kentucky, but came to Texas with her sister, Mrs. H.J. Dugan, in the forties and was married to C.D. Miller in 1855 and moved to their farm 7 miles south of Sherman, where she has since resided. She is survived by 9 children, her kind companion having died 16 years ago. All of her children were at her bedside when the end came and are as follows: Mrs. Ella Francis of Luella; J.W. Miller, Marshall, Missouri; Charley Miller, Luella; Mrs. Ida Beam, Mississippi; Mr. Geo. O. Miller, Sherman; Mrs. Maude Furgason, Oklahoma; Mrs. May Francis, Oklahoma; Mrs. Tom McDonald, Luella; and R.L. Miller of Sherman. She is also survived by her sister, Mrs. Richard Smith of Pleasant Hill, Missouri. The floral decorations were beautiful and told of the love and esteem in which she was held by loved ones, friends, and neighbors. She was a devoted mother, a consecrated Christian of the Church of Christ. She was laid to rest Sunday evening in Holliday's [sic] Cemetery. Had she lived til March the deceased would have been 76 years old. She had seen many changes in Sherman and could tell many interesting stories of Grayson county. We hate to see our old landmarks passing away, but in their passing, that beautiful Land of Love is made nearer to the sorrowing ones that are left.
