  Prentice Marion Helms 6 July 1883 - 25 July 1966  Ruby Armstrong was born Sunday, April 25, 1920 in Luella, Texas, daughter of J.E. and Daisy Beard Armstrong and went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at the age of 96 years. Ruby attended Luella School and Howe High School. On August 27, 1936 she married Jesse Helms; they were married 45 years when he passed away in January 1982. Three children were born to this union: Robert Helms, Jerry Helms and Donna Helms Batey. On June 10, 1986 Ruby and Delmer Reynolds were married; he passed away in 2000. Ruby was employed for 35 years at Burlington Industries as a weaver. She loved flowers and a pretty yard. For many years she had a beautiful yard full of flowers on South Rusk St. in Sherman. She was an active member of Forest Avenue Baptist Church in Sherman for many years. She is survived by her children: Robert Helms and wife Deanna of Howe and Donna Helms Batey and husband Eric of Denison; step-daughters, Dovie Hogan and husband Richard of Hope, Arkansas; and Mary Groner of Sulphur Springs, Texas; grandchildren, Marcy (Mitch) Sellers of Howe; Matt (Stacy) Helms of Midlothian; and Jesse (Maria) Batey of Sherman; step-grandchildren, Larry Halliburton of Allen, Texas; and Terry Halliburton of Anchorage, Alaska; 6 great-grandchildren, Tiffany Lallier, Coleton and Chase Helms, McKayla, Isaiah and Ezra Batey; 5 step-great-grandchildren, and several step-great-great-grandchildren. Ruth was also preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers, Bliss Armstrong, Vernon Armstrong and Glenn Armstrong; 2 sisters, Hazel McGill and Zelma McGill; son Jerry Helms; and great-granddaughter, Sara Lallier. A Celebration of her Life was held Saturday, May 21 at Forest Avenue Baptist Church, 106 W. Forest in Sherman with Pastors Brian Taylor and Roy Duff officiating. Interment followed at Holloway Cemetery in Luella with Jesse Batey, Matt Helms, Mitch Sellers, Steve Streun, Jan Armstrong, Randy Clark and Tim Johnson serving as pallbearers.
