SHERMAN - Funeral services for Jay Gregory Renfro were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 29 in the First Baptist Church of Howe. Rev. Shawn Kemp of the Crossroads Community Church in Anna officiated, assisted by Rev. Roger Tidwell of the First Baptist Church of Howe. Burial followed at Hall Cemetery with Kevin McCleese, Jon Johnson, Kevin Talbott, Bobby Cline, Micky Lester, Jackie Moss, Kendall Kerzee and Richy "Chief" Thomas serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Kristopher Renfro, Wyatt Renfro, Tyler Vic, Travis Vick, and Harris Vick.

Jay was born on  August 9, 1965 in Sherman to Jerry and Barbara Ann (Farrington) Renfro. He graduated from Sherman High School in 1983 where he had been active in the Sherman FFA. After high school, Jay enjoyed playing softball. Later he began restoring cars and entering car shows. As a member of the Texoma Vintage/Classic Car Club, Jay enjoyed working on his electric blue pick-up and was very proud of the many trophies he had won at various car shows.
Jay also enjoyed the outdoors while hunting or fishing. He was always there for his family and many friends. Jay was a Christian who loved the Lord and read his Bible often.
Jay Renfro was a thoughtful son, a wonderful brother, and a loving father. He is survived by his daughters, Kalinda Murphey and husband Shane of Perryville, Arkansas and Kaisey Phillips of Denison; stepchildren, Clinton and Courtney Moore of Luella; parents, Jerry and Barbara Renfro of Sherman; grandmother, Maudie Farrington of Collinsville; sister, Tonya Vick and husband Johnny of Sherman; brother, Scott Renfro and wife Wendy of Hoe; uncles and aunts, David Renfro, Mike and Glenda Renfro, Kenneth and Wilma Farrington, and Norma Renfro; eleven nieces and nephews; his former wife, Sherrie Potts of Luella; and a host of special friends. Jay was loved by many and will be missed by all. We love you Jay Bird!
Memorials may be made to the Texoma Vintage/Classic Car Club Memorial Fund at 2401 Caprice Avenue, Denison, TX 75020.
