GUNTER - Della Mae Lankford passed away June 4, 2011 in Gunter at the age of 88. She was the daughter of Orvil and Nora Hanning. Della was born and raised in the Sperry Community. She went to school at Sperry and Southmayd.
She married Grady B. Lankford on Nov. 10, 1938 in Sherman. Rev. George Henry Stevenson of Collinsville officiated the ceremony. They lived in the Dorchester community for more than 50 years, being the co-operators of Grade A Dairy. Della helped with the farm work and was at much at home in the milking parlor as she was in the kitchen. She was very active in church, community and school work.
Surviving are her three sons, Wes Lankford and wife Gloria of Pottsboro, Ronnie Lankford and wife Marty of Hugo, Oklahoma, and Roger Lankford and wife Jewel of Jacksonville, Florida; one daughter, Diana Meredith and husband Jim of San Diego, California; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, three brothers and one sister.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church in Howe with Tom Medley and the Honorable James Lankford officiating. Interment will follow at Hall Cemetery.
