LAST RITES FOR DICK GENTRY HELD SUNDAY Funeral services for Richard A. (Dick) Gentry were held Sunday at two o'clock in the Dannel Funeral Chapel in Sherman, conducted by Rev. James C. Coffey of the Baptist Church here. Masons served as pallbearers with Masonic rites at the Hall cemetery in Howe. Mr. Gentry passed away in a Sherman Hospital last Friday morning at 8:05. He was a retired carpenter, a member of the Baptist Church, and a Mason for more than 50 years. Mr. Gentry was born on December 25, 1870 in Somerset, Kentucky, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Gentry. He leaves 74 direct descendants. Survivors include two sons, J. William Gentry of Henderson, and S. A. Gentry of Sherman; two daughters, Mrs. Lillie Lewis of Sulphur, Oklahoma, and Mrs. Ollie Hart of Long Beach, California; one brother Eli Gentry of Van Alstyne; 22 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren, and a number of great great grandchildren. Mr. Gentry grew to manhood in Van Alstyne, following the craft of his father. He had been living near Athens the past twenty years, moving back to Van Alstyne some months ago.
