A14 HOWE - Funeral services for Vinita Erloe " Neets" Jay of Howe, 77, homemaker, were held Sunday afternnoon, April 5, at the Howe First United Methodist Church. Services were conducted by Dr. Tom Flick, pastor. Burial followed at Hall Cemetery, Howe. Mrs. Jay died Friday evening at Wilson N. Jones Hospital. Services were under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home. Mrs. Jay was born November 22, 1920, daughter of Walter and Josie Nicholson Enloe at the Howe farm home of her grandparents, Joe and Rosenia Enloe, pioneer Grayson County settlers. She married Overton Jay on October 2, 1937 in Madill, Oklahoma. She and Overton celebrated 60 years of marriage with a reception at First United Methodist Church, Howe, on October 4, 1997. Mrs. Jay attended schools in Sherman and Howe. After her marriage to Overton, they resided inDalhart and Amarillo while he worked with the Corps of Engineers. They returned to Howe to make their home and raise their family. Mrs. Jay was a long-time member of the Stockton Sunday School class, Howe First United Methodist Church, and the Howe Historical Society. "Neets" was a class "room mother" every year her children were in school. She loved her family and friends and especially enjoyed her grandchildren and the Enloe family reunions. She was a giving person who knew the joy of helping others. She loved gardening and growing flowers in her yard for others to enjoy. Pallbearers were grandsons, David Englutt, Jay Martin, Edward Martin, Freddy Ramsey, Jr., Wayne Cavender, and Freddy Holcomb. In addition to her husband, Overton, survivors include daughters, Beverly Martin and husband, Ernest, of Howe; and Mary Jo Wrenn and hu sband, Kenny, of Van Alstyne; brother, Joe Madison Enloe and wife, Tootsie, of Lovington, New Mexico; granddaughter, Leasa Ramsey and husband, Freddy, of Van Alstyne; grandsons, Jay Martin and wife, Leslie, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Edward Martin and wife, Rhonda, of Van Alstyne; David Englutt of Sherman; great-grandchildren: Lauren and Leah Martin; Eddit Martin; Michelle, Billy and Kathleen Martin; and Jaren Ramsey; step-grandchildren: Brandi and Brook McKee and Leonard and Victor Martin; and several cousins she loved dearly, including Juanita King of Howe. Mrs. Jay is preceded in death by her parents and her grandson, Ernest H. Martin, Jr. Memorial donations may be made to the Howe First United Methodist Church or the Howe Historical Society.
