    Kenneth Nicholas Sr. 1928 - 2017  Pottsboro, Texas - Kenneth Nicholas, Sr. passed away peacefully in the early morning of Sunday, September 3, 2107 at the age of 89 years. Kenneth was born August 5, 1928 to Howard and Roma Nicholas in Harriman, Tennessee, one of nine brothers and sisters. In 1945, Ken joined the United States Army and proudly served his country, a fact he held in his heart his entire life. On April 24, 1948, he married Catherine Flip in Chicago, Illinois. They were blessed with over 69 years of marriage. Kenneth was a multi-skilled man who showed many professional talents as a mechanic, truck driver, and electrician during his years of hard work. He is preceded in death by his son, Dean (Deano) Thomas Nicholas and is survived by his wife; sons, Ken Nicholas, Jr. and David Nicholas, both of Howe; Dennis Nicholas of Pottsboro; and daughter, Cathy Edghill of Collinsville. Kenneth was the proud grandfather to 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. Graveside services with military honors were held Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Hall Cemetery in Howe, Texas. Services were under the direction of Scoggins Funeral Home & Crematory of Van Alstyne.
