Funeral services for Samuel Lee Gurley who died at his home in McKinney, Texas on Sunday morning October 13, 1935 were held at the First Baptist Church in Farmington on Monday at 2 p.m. with burial following in the Hall Cemetery.

Mr. Gurley was born January 10, 1882, near Howe and became a member of the First Baptist Church in Howe when 14 years of age.  In 1901 he was married to Miss Nora Barron.
Surviving are his wife; one daughter, Mrs. George C. Hall of McKinney; two grandchildren, Donald and Margie Nell Hall; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. D.W. Gurley of Howe; two sisters Mrs. Herb Cox of Howe; and Mrs. C.E. Wax of Gilliham, Arkansas; one brother, J.S. Gurley of Dorchester. 


Mrs. Nora Gurley Services Held in Pilot Point

Mrs. Nora Gurley passed away at the home of her daughter, Mr. and Mrs. George Hall in Cooper, Wednesday December 18, 1957 at 1:40 p.m. She has been in ill health since suffering a hip injury one year ago.
Mrs. Gurley was born in Prairie Grove, Arkansas, December 24, 1883, the daughter of William Ferrell and Annie E. Morrison Barron. Her family moved to Texas when she was about eight years old and settled near Howe, Grayson, Texas. She was married to Samuel Lee Gurley in 1901 at Howe. He preceded her in death in 1935. She moved to Pilot Point with her daughter and family in 1937. She resided there before moving to Cooper in January 1957. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cooper.
Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Beck Funeral Home in Pilot Point, Rev. Glenn Hayden of Cooper and Rev. Arthur Grigg of Pilot Point, officiated. Interment was in the Hall Cemetery, Howe.
Survivors are Mr. and Mrs. George Hall of Cooper; two grandchildren, Donald Hall of Waco; Margie Nell Abbe of Denton; four great grandsons; three brothers; Macie, Avery and Henry all of Sherman.
