Lela JoAnn Bell went home to be with her Lord Sunday, January 24, 2021. She was born August 8, 1941. JoAnn graduated high school in 1959 in Sherman and received her Bachelor of Science from Southeastern Oklahoma State University. She remained actively in touch with her classmates throughout her lifetime. She was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Denison, where she was a lay speaker. JoAnn served her community by working in the medical field many years in various capacities. She was generous in helping prepare meals at the monthly Stew for the Soul, the annual Community Thanksgiving Meal, and the Kid's Backpack Party. JoAnn was active in Eve's Circle and in her church garage sales, along with acts of charity and kindness too numerous to recount. She was an accomplished seamstress, proficient in alterations, as well as all types of sewing and quilting. JoAnn is survived by cousins: Elaine Wardlow; Steven Cranfill and wife Dana; Jack Cranfill and wife, Ann; Donna Sue Wells; Carla Walsh and husband, Mike; second cousin Michael Pinion; aunt, Wanda Jennings; step-son, David Bell and wife, Cindy; grandsons, Warren McGrew and wife, Andrea; Stephen McGrew and wife, Jennifer; Brian McGrew and wife, Justine; granddaughters, Jennifer Laha and husband, Brian; Kristina Byrd; 9 great-grandchildren; and special friends, Kimberly and Wiley Platt. JoAnn had a big, loving heart and took great delight in calling many in her circle her children, grandchildren and godchildren. She had numerous friends and had a separate and unique love for each person she claimed as her own. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to any of the various ministries listed above at Trinity United Methodist Church, Denison. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, February 6, 2021 in the Waldo Funeral Chapel. It is highly recommended that masks be worn. A graveside service was at Hall Cemetery in Howe, Texas.
