  Nelda Joann Douglas was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven on January 9, 2019. Joann, the second child of Bertie Lee Brown and Flossie Lorene Brown, was born March 4, 1938 in Brownfield, Texas. She grew up and attended school in Van Alstyne, Texas. Joann married R..L. Douglas on June 12, 1954. Together they made the Farmington community near Howe their home. She retired from Texas Instruments after 30 years of service. She is survived by her husband of 65 years; 4 children, Joel Lee Douglas and wife, Janna, of Weatherford; Sherry Kay Word and husband, Larry, of Dorchester; Lori Suzanne Kellis of Farmington community; and Jerri Lynn Huff and husband, Wayne, of Springtown; 7 grandchildren include Joni Word Willis, Chad Word, Ricky Kellis, Amanda Douglas, Ashton Douglas, Abby Huff and Ryan Huff; 4 great-grandchildren include Caleb and Dakota Fetzer, Elizabeth Word, and Olivia Willis; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Joann has 2 surviving siblings, Jimmy Brown of Galveston and Lorene Brown Raso of Carrollton. Preceding her in death were her parents; and 2 sisters, Linda Moore of Van Alstyne and Joyce Hallick of McKinney. Services were held graveside at Hall Cemetery on Saturday morning, January 12, 2019 with Rev. Mark Fletcher officiating.
