SHERMAN - Eugenia Webb Thornton, 91, went home to be with the Lord Friday, April 16, 2010 at Sherman Health Care Center in Sherman.
Mrs. Thornton was born October 27, 1918 in Hagerman, the daughter of Hunt and Audrey (Hunter) Smith. She graduated from Murray State College of Nursing in Tishomingo, Oklahoma. Eugenia worked as a nurse, and met and cared for "Slim" Thornton when he was injured in World War II. They were married July 9, 1947 in Roswell, New Mexico.
The last church she attended was Hyde Park Presbyterian Church with the rest of the Morrison/Smith family. She loved to attend the Hagerman reunions and tried to come to the Morrison family reunions when she was able. Eugenia was a loving  mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Mrs. Thornton is survived by her sons, Hubert Thornton and wife LeAnn of Sherman, and Edward Thornton of Posser, Washington; granddaughter, Wendy Thornton Case and husband, Kevin, of Denison; great-grandchildren, Jaleb Case and Jaron Case of Denison, and Tanner Lee Thornton of Pottsboro; nieces, Myrna Beth McGuire Walker and Sandra Lee Smith; and numerous cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband, Myron "Slim" Thornton; brothers, Hubert Smith and Maurice Hunter Smith; sister, Evelyn Irene Smith McGuire; and grandson, Lawrence Lee Thornton.
Funeral services were held Thursday morning, April 20, 2010 at Fisher Funeral Chapel with Dr. Ron Cunningham officiating. Interment followed at Hagerman Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of Fisher Funeral Home, located at 604 W. Main in Denison.
