Mary Grace Morrison, 86, of Sherman passed from this life on Saturday, July 12, 2008. Dannel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Services will be held at 10 am Tuesday, July 15. at Covenant Presbyterian Church with Rev. Neill Morgan officiating. Interment will follow at Hagerman Cemetery.
Mary Grace was born in Sherman on November 22, 1921, to Lee and Grace Kitchell Timberman. She graduated from Sherman High School in 1938 with stenography and bookkeeping training. She married Ben Morrison of Hagerman, and they had two children, Annette and Edward Allen.
Mary Grace worked for the Army Corps of Engineers, a jewelry store in San Diego, California, Eastwood Village Pharmacy in San Antonio, and the San Antonio Zoo. She also worked for the Corpus Christi Credit Bureau, Sherman Community Hospital, Ramada Inn, and Gibson's. Late she was self-employed as a genealogical researcher and a sitter for the elderly and patients recovering from surgery. She had resided in Sherman Health Care Center since 2003.
Formerly a member of Walnut Street Church of Christ in Sherman, she was a charter member of Hope Presbyterian Church in San Antonio. She was also a member of First Presbyterian Church, Corpus Christi and (presently) Covenant Presbyterian Church, Sherman. She was a member of the Martha Jefferson-Randolph Chapter of the DAR (Sherman) as a transfer from the Corpus Christi chapter. She had been a member of the Grayson County Historical Society, Royal Neighbors Society, and Sherman Genealogical Society.
Mary Grace will be remembered for her good humor, wise counsel, caring spirit, beautiful voice, love for Jesus, her church, family, friends and pets. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She is predeceased by her parents, husband, stepmother Velma Timberman, and half-brother Jack Timberman.
Survivors include her loving daughter, Annette, and son-in-law Bill Catts; her son E. Allen and daughter-in-law Teresa Morrison; grandchildren: William Catts, Robert Catts, James Morrison and Dale Morrison; great-grandchildren, Amanda, Mariah, David and Alexa Catts, also along with many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
