Thursday, February 5, 1953 pg.2 Celina - Walter E. Savage, 80-year-old early day North Texas homesteader, died early February 5 in his home at Gunter. Funeral services were held in Gunter First Baptist Church February 6, 1953 with burial following in Gunter Cemetery. Mr. Savage was a retired farmer and a deacon in First Baptist Church. He was born in Corinth, Mississippi and married in 1891. Survivors include his wife, Sarah Savage; daughter, Mrs. Ola B. Harding of Dallas; sons, Robert and George Savage of Sherman and Douglas and Ray Savage of Dallas; 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
